The history of Leftovers:

Leftovers began in 2009 as a result of finding too many scraps of leftover printing papers jamming our flatfiles. We put out a call to artists to use those scraps to create an edition of prints no larger than 5" x 7" and receive a random dozen prints in
return.  We have grown from an initial 60 participants to 155 in 2012.  Artists now produce 14 prints, receive 12 in return. Of the two remaining prints, one is used for exhibitions and the second is featured in a Silent Auction to raise funds for Hunger
Relief.  Follow the Leftovers blog at: http://leftoversanyone.blogspot.com/

Boise Premier!

Plans are underway for the exhibition of the Leftovers III portfolio in Wingtip's beautiful new space in the cultural district of Boise.  The exhibition and auction opens on December 3 and will be featured in Boise's monthly First Thursday art walk.  The auction will close on December 8 at 7:00.  We're getting very excited to host this event in our new digs.

And the folks at the Hunger Relief Task Force are ecstatic!

Here's why:  According to the Task Force, "too many in our community are not adequately fed - a basic foundation of a healthy community. Instead, some children rely on a free school lunch as their their healthiest meal of the day. Many older people eat too little to maintain their health and independence. Many working parents skip meals so that their children can eat. Hungry families can be found in every county in Idaho, and the ill effects of hunger touch everyone and every community in some way. A prosperous community is one that addresses the root causes of this most basic indicator—food insecurity. The  Cultivate Idaho Initiative looks beyond emergency assistance and explores local food systems, economic development, community support systems, and civic engagement for sustainable solutions to build a food secure and thriving community."

Leftover prints making a difference.

Oh! We'll be announcing the call for Leftovers IV as soon as we close the auction.

Four Star Leftovers

Who knows? The Michelin Guide may just need to make a reservation at Wingtip Press.  After rave reviews at the Boise Weekly Cover Auction, they might need reservations.  I'm not kidding.  Those eleven luscious little Leftovers the Boise Weekly chose to include on their cover and in their annual auction raised over $1700 last week.  Now, that's a chunk of change.

And we're getting ready to host our 2nd annual Silent Auction to raise funds for the Idaho Hunger Relief Task Force.  What a delicious idea, huh?  And they will be adorning Wingtip's walls in our beautfiul, brand new space in downtown Boise.

Leftovers III Silent Auction will open on November 29 and close on December 8.
And Leftover IV (can you believe it?) will be announced soon, too.  I'm getting hungry just thinking about it.

COMMON SPACE
September 10 - 21, 2012
Gallery Talk: Friday, September 14, noon
 Patti and Rusty Rueff Galleries
West Gallery, Pao Hall

EXCHANGE VIII: Contemporary Prints is comprised of national and international portfolios and projects that Purdue University faculty, alumni, and graduate students were invited to participate in. Fine art prints in the form of etchings, digital prints, screen prints, lithographs, relief prints, and mixed media prints by artists from all over the US and abroad are included in the exhibition.

Exchange VIII was organized and curated by Purdue University printmaking graduate students Andrés Arízaga, Monica Farrar, LaToya Hobbs, and Lisa Wicka with printmaking professor Kathryn Reeves.

COMMON SPACE is an international invitational exhibition developed and curated by Purdue University printmaking graduate students Monica Farrar, LaToya Hobbs and Lisa Wicka with printmaking professor Kathryn Reeves. The show includes original fine art prints by artists from all over the US and abroad including Australia, Canada, China, England, and India. Invited artists representing diverse backgrounds and concepts cooperated in creating art about the idea of common space. Curators of this exhibition said, “We have all experienced certain spaces – interior and exterior space, social and cultural space, psychological and physical space, inner and outer, real and imagined. Space implies a rich multitude of things. A portfolio is one space that printmakers hold in common. This portfolio is a reflection of printmaking as a community of individual artists working in many directions within an interconnected network.”
