Mail Malfunction

Did we mention the mail malfunction? Long story short: packages from Canada got switched at the Canadian shipping office (think internationally famous mail shipping company). Wingtip received $11,800 in checks (cancelled, thankfully) and JP Morgan received an edition of fresh, delicious Canadian Leftovers prints. JP Morgan  apparently preferred the prints as it took them three weeks to part with them and send them to their rightful owners.  But they're here now, safe and sound. (And yes, Wingtip promptly returned the checks to the mail malfunctioning facility.   

Just goes to show our prints are worth a million   okay, but at least eleven eight.

Yikes! It's Nearly June

Where has the time gone?  Whew! What a busy nearly first half of 2013.  Time is fleeting and your Leftovers will be soon, too!  You see, we finally cleared the tables and began the pre-pre-pre packaging yesterday at Wingtip Press.  With a crew of five, we prepared the shipping labels, the international documents, the receipts, alphabetized everything so your prints can find their way to your envelopes and we even carefully organized  your name, location and print title info so the exhibition labels can be created for our upcoming exhibitions.  

So, it doesn't look like much.  But they're all here - nearly 180 luxurious little baggies of luscious Leftovers soon to be at a mailbox near you.

I know, your mouth is watering now, huh?

Licking his Lips?

Oodles and oodles of delicious leftovers have arrived at Wingtip Press.  But we're wondering if maybe your dog is licking his lips?  You see, we've had less Leftovers than what we expected based on the reservations for  our feast. So, if your dog has eaten your Leftovers, there's still time.  "What?" you say.

It's true.  You see we've been busy traveling and the truth of the matter is we won't be back until late next week, and then we have to get settled in,  clean off the tables and get to work on setting the table.

So, Nick Nack, paddy whack says, "Give a dog a bone!"  And send those leftovers to our home!

Discovering a long, lost Leftover

We picked up a new press today! Well, not-so-new, I guess, but new to us.  We are the third owners of this 1970's electric combo press.  And it came to us with the original receipt and correspondence about building a table to accommodate it.   It was in a small basement gallery in a very large and lovely, I'd call it a mansion, in the Warm Springs District in Boise.  The movers struggled to get it out of the studio, up a very slender staircase, out the door and down the long cobblestone driveway to the moving truck.

When they went back for the table and picked it up to move it, we discovered the original owner had used a large panel of wood with the remains of a painting on the underside of the table.  A leftover, leftover from the 70's.  

The press and table have taken a window seat in our studio at Wingtip and I can't wait to print my Leftovers on it.   Oops, now you know, I haven't printed my Leftovers yet either!

Here comes the Mail Person

Well, the Leftovers are starting to tumble in.  And with 18 days to go, we imagine we'll be receiving more than just a handful every day now.  We can't begin to tell you how much fun it is to get those puffy envelopes full of your prints.  Well, they're not all puffy, some are packed in very rigid protection like masonite, and foam core and wrapped so well, it requires a surgeon to open them.  We love to see all the different ways you pack your prints.

And just imagine our delight in receiving this delightful envelop today - all the way from Canada.

THREE! No, TWO, no, ONE!

I'm old enough to remember that old game show "Let's Make a Deal."  Lucky participants would get to the point where they could make a choice between three doors with the chance at winning a Takach press. Well, maybe it wasn't a Takach press, but there was a wonderful prize behind one of those doors. When asked which door they would choose, nervous contestants would sometimes shout: THREE! No, TWO, no, ONE! It sounded like one word:threenotwonoone!

That's what it feels like when announcing all our Leftovers exhibitions and exchanges which seem to always be happening simultaneously.

So, just to set this straight. Leftovers II recently returned from Swansea, Wales. Leftovers III is opening at Wharepuke in New Zealand on Thursday, February. Leftovers I is filed safely away at Wingtip, and Leftovers IV is a work in progress.  Seems to me we're all winners.

Announcing Wingtip Press' 2013 Leftovers IV Print Exchange

Yes, it's that time of year again! 

Wingtip Press is pleased to announce our fourth annual Leftovers Print Exchange. This popular portfolio has become international in scope - not only with international printmakers but with exhibitions in the US, Wales and New Zealand. This year's 2013 Leftovers IV portfolio has been invited to Australia!  We hope to continue our exhibition schedule to include Wharepuke Gallery in New Zealand and Swansea Print Workshop in Wales and welcome the opportunity for additional exhibitions.

The history of Leftovers:

Leftovers began in 2009 as a result of finding too many scraps of leftover printing papers jamming our flatfiles. We put out a call to artists to use those scraps to create an edition of prints no larger than 5" x 7" and receive a random dozen prints in 

return.  We have grown from an initial 60 participants to 155 in 2012.  Artists now produce 14 prints, receive 12 in return. Of the two remaining prints, one is used for exhibitions and the second is featured in a Silent Auction to raise funds for Hunger
